About Us In June of 1977, just one year after the very first “modern day” Crime Stopper program was formed in Albuquerque New Mexico, The Central Florida Crime Line Program Inc. registered as a Florida corporation, making it one of the earliest such programs in the world and first of its kind in Florida. As the membership grew, it was apparent that traditional fundraising and private donations would no longer sustain many of the programs, due to their success. This prompted the FACS organization to spearhead the creation of what became the Crime Stoppers Trust Fund 1998. This Fund, which is administered by the Office of the Attorney General, collects approximately five million dollars annually through fines imposed on criminal cases in each county, and provides the much needed funding for the individual programs. Our GoalThe Florida Association of Crime Stoppers aims to support and encourage the establishment and continued operation of local Crime Stoppers programs, to coordinate the establishment of standards and protect the autonomy of our member programs.Through this, we hope to promote better communication between members of the community and law enforcement to assist in their fight against crime.
